As the turn of the century unfolds, more and more gadgets are coming out. First it was cellphones, then it was iPods, then iPhones, smartphones, tablets, and even now smart watches are coming to the stage. What's next? Do you ever notice when your friends are all on their phones while you guys hang out? Or maybe you're the one who's always on their phone. I too am a victim, but we seemingly joke about the issue. Just last night my friend pointed out when five out of the seven of us in the room were on our phones saying "Hey Noah, let's complete the circle of phones", but do we really want to always resort to our phones in our spare time? Smartphones are a way of communicating, but they also distract us from the full experience of interacting with friends. There might be extremes on this issue, but the most popular views I see today are more modest.

Some people might be totally accepting towards new technology and enjoy everything that smartphones have to give. But that's not a bad thing. Consumers help to sponsor technological advancements. There's also the view that smartphones are great; they help us in so many ways, but I don't want to be constantly phased into a digitally connected world. These people try to enjoy the helpfulness of smartphones, but are cautious to not be constantly hooked. The third view that people usually take is one in which people believe they don't need smartphones. "Why should I get a smartphone when I can make calls, hang out with friends, and search the internet with what I have"? How do smartphones affect your life?
